The image is from the Florentine Codex. The codex depicts a priest performing a human sacrifice with a flint knife. The victim is shown held by priests and the throbbing heart was ripped out and offered to the sun to keep the universe in motion. In my version, the heart is replaced by a red “designer” iPad. Now… was the gadget extracted from the sacrificial victim and then offered to the sun? Or, are the priests getting ready to document the victim before the sacrifice actually takes place (perhaps, you tube “uploading”)?

This painting was inspired by Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street as well as by the Michelangelo figure from the famous Raphael Renaissance fresco, “School of Athens” (Michelangelo was famously known for being  “grumpy” and tempermental).
